Nepal Water for Health (NEWAH) is a well-established non- governmental organization in Nepal that has been working since 1992 to improve the health and quality of life of rural communities through sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives. With a strong belief that access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation is a fundamental human right, NEWAH focuses on community-led development approaches that empower local people to plan, implement, and maintain their own water supply and sanitation systems. The organization has successfully implemented thousands of projects across remote and underserved regions, including gravity-fed water systems, rainwater harvesting, latrine construction, and hygiene education programs. In addition to infrastructure development, NEWAH places significant emphasis on behavior change, promoting good hygiene practices such as handwashing and safe water handling to prevent waterborne diseases. It also works on strengthening local capacity by training community members, technicians, and local institutions, ensuring long-term sustainability of its interventions.
