Thamkharka Airport

Thamkharka Airport Khotang is a domestic airport serving Khotehang in Khotang District, Koshi Province, Nepal, and plays an important role in connecting this remote hilly region with other parts of the country. Operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Thamkharka Airport (ICAO: VNTH) sits at an elevation of about 1,601 m (5,252 ft) above sea level and features a single 630-meter runway that accommodates small aircraft for regional flights. Originally opened on 19 October 2001, the airport has undergone infrastructure improvements over the years, including runway blacktopping to support safer and more reliable flight operations. Although it experiences limited facilities compared with larger Nepalese airports, Thamkharka provides vital air service for passengers and cargo, offering scheduled and charter flights—especially important for locals who otherwise face long and difficult journeys by road.
