In December 2012, Red Mud Coffee was founded as a start-up company with a mission to bring Nepali Grown Coffee to Kathmandu ‘s youth. A second outlet in Jhamsikhel Lalitpur opened in early 2015, following the success of its first outlet in Thapathali, Kathmandu. Since then, Red Mud Coffee has become a famous local youth brand, opening three more outlets in Manang, Gairidhara and New Baneshwor in 2016.The addition of a coffee kiosk inside the U.S. Embassy in Maharajgunj in 2017. Red Mud Coffee is also well recognized through the first business accelerator program “RockStart: Impact 2015” in Nepal for being one of the beneficiaries of foreign direct investment, making history as the first SME to have a foreign partner from the Netherlands.

Red Mud Coffee officially runs six outlets in its seventh year and offers training and job opportunities to over 75 underprivileged young people in Nepal. Red Mud Coffee aimed to become Nepal ‘s biggest coffee shop chain, build more jobs and boost the Nepalese economy.It has also been an active promoter of charitable activities , helping young entrepreneurs, fostering local youth activities and developing a group of individuals through its brand. The first Barista Training Program and Qualification (In-House) was also conducted by Red Mud Coffee and was able to credential six of its best team members who successfully completed the SCA Advance Course in Coffee Making conducted by the Netherlands’ world-famous trainer Rose Van Asten.

It aims to encourage and continue serving the best coffee in Nepal with its slogan, “A Revolution Begins in a Coffee Shop.”
