The Institute (RKBPI) has spread over an area of 426 Ropanis, the largest polytechnic institution in the entire eastern region to date. Higher education has always been one of the main demands of the Ilam people. The lack of jobs following the completion of formal education had motivated them to demand the establishment of institutions providing skills-oriented education. The Institute called Ratna Kumar Bantawa Polytechnic Institute is established at a cost of Rs 100 million and is located in the village of Sakhejung in Palapa.
