Manmohan Memorial Polytechnic (MMP) was set up as a technical college in Hattimuda-7, Morang, Koshi, Nepal, in 2008 AD. Biratnagar, an industrial town in eastern Nepal, is situated 12 kilometers north. With the aid of NRs.46 Crores, the Polytechnic was founded by the Government of India under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Program under the name of Late Man Mohan Adhikari, former Prime Minister of Nepal, and is the first of its kind in the world.The college has the status of CTEVT (Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training, Nepal), but is accredited as an independent college by the Government of Nepal. It offers a Multidisciplinary Certificate in Engineering (IE) course. It also delivers instruction in unique skills to vulnerable and unemployed groups of individuals through short-term modularized training programs. Up to now, this college provides different levels of program, offering diplomas in legal, electrical, computer and mechanical. It will also shortly have bachelor’s degree in the civil department scheme.
Manmohan Memorial Polytechnic is the first polytechnic of its kind founded as a result of an agreement between the Government of India, the Government of Nepal and the Manmohan Memorial Foundation with the generous assistance of the Government of India to cater to its students with employable skills that are most important for employability and further growth of the country.It is affiliated with the umbrella body for the creation of TEVT in Nepal, the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).
