B.P. Koirala Institute of Health

B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) is a major public health sciences university and teaching hospital located in Dharan Sub‑Metropolitan City in Koshi Province, Nepal. It was established on January 18, 1993, and later became an autonomous health sciences university on October 28, 1998 with a mission to educate competent and socially responsible health professionals, provide comprehensive healthcare services, and conduct innovative health research. The institute is named after Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala, a prominent Nepali leader and visionary.
BPKIHS comprises several constituent colleges including Medicine, Dental Surgery, Nursing, and Public Health, offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and certificate programs such as MBBS, BDS, nursing, MD/MS, MSc, MDS, and PhD degrees. Many of its programs are recognized by national and international medical councils, including the Nepal Medical Council, the Medical Council of India, and recognition in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
