Welcome to Upendra Devkota Memorial National Institute Of Neurological And Allied Sciences

Upendra Devkota Memorial National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences (UDM‑NINAS) is Nepal’s premier neurological and neurosurgical specialty hospital, located in Bansbari, Kathmandu. It was originally founded as the National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences by the late Professor Dr. Upendra Devkota, the pioneer of modern neurosurgery in Nepal, and was later renamed in his honor after his passing. The institute provides comprehensive care for disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and related systems, offering services that range from clinical consultations and emergency neurological care to highly specialized neurosurgery and allied sciences. It serves as a tertiary referral centre where neurologists, neurosurgeons, and allied specialists work together to treat complex conditions, including stroke, trauma, tumors, spinal disorders, and vascular anomalies. The hospital also features advanced facilities like Nepal’s first Bi‑plane Cathlab for endovascular procedures, and the first dedicated Acute Stroke Unit, enabling advanced treatments such as thrombectomy and aneurysm coiling for patients who would otherwise need to travel abroad for such care.
